Tile is the most permanent floor you can put in a home - and the easiest one to install badly. A great tile job comes down to subfloor prep, mortar coverage, and layout more than the tile itself, which is why Urban Edge Construction owner Eddy Tkachuk sets every job the same way he's set floors for 10+ years: level substrate first, full mortar coverage second, tile third.

Tile is unmatched in any room that sees water or heavy foot traffic - which describes most of a busy Idaho household. How we install tile that lasts in Idaho's climate
We start with a full subfloor inspection - any flex, moisture, or unevenness gets fixed before a single tile is set. We use thinset mortars rated for the tile size, back-butter large-format tile for full coverage, and use leveling clips to keep long grout lines dead straight. Showers get a proper waterproofing membrane, sloped mortar bed, and a bonded curb, not a shortcut.

Pricing includes tile, thinset, grout, professional installation, and disposal of old flooring. Waterproofing membrane and floor leveling quoted separately when needed.

Tile Flooring - frequently asked questions
Most rooms take 2-3 days: demo and prep on day one, setting tile on day two, grouting and sealing on day three. Full bathroom remodels take longer once you add plumbing and fixture work.
For any wet area - showers, tub surrounds - yes, always. On dry floors over a solid subfloor it's optional, but we'll tell you honestly whether your specific room needs it.
Sometimes, if the existing tile is solidly bonded and level. More often we remove the old tile so the new floor sits flat and true - we'll tell you which makes sense during your [free estimate](/free-estimate).
Standard grout can stain over time if it isn't sealed. We seal every grout job before we leave, and offer stain-resistant grout as an upgrade in kitchens and showers.
