Engineered hardwood treads - our recommendation
Because we specialize in engineered hardwood, most of the staircases we build use engineered treads to match the rest of the home's floor exactly. They're dimensionally stable, finish to look identical to solid wood once installed, and hold up well to Idaho's dry-winter swings.

What the installation process looks like
We start with demo and prep - removing existing carpet or treads, vacuuming out the staircase, and shimming any loose stringers so the new staircase doesn't squeak. Then treads, risers, and nosings go in with construction adhesive and hidden fasteners, followed by finishing so the stairs are ready to use within days.

Hardwood Stairs - frequently asked questions
Yes. We remove the carpet, padding, staples, and tack strip, then inspect the treads underneath. If they're solid we install on top; if they're damaged, we replace them as part of the job.
A standard staircase typically takes 2 to 3 days end to end, from demo through finishing.
That's the goal on most jobs. We bring stain samples to your home so you see the actual color on the actual wood species before we order anything.
No more than any other hard surface finished properly. If you have pets or small kids, we can add discreet anti-slip strips under the nosing.
